Health or Health-adjacent research involves people, their health, wellbeing or healthcare experiences but falls outside the scope of the Health and Disability Ethics Committees (HDECs). This pathway is designed for research that requires independent ethics review but is not eligible for, or does not require, HDEC review.
If you're unsure whether your study requires HDEC review or is suitable for this pathway, our screening tool can help determine the most appropriate review option before you apply. We require an out-of-scope letter from the HDECs before we are able to progress your application to review.
